Apparel

Grippy gloves, a cool jersey, and some tough shorts (either with or without padding) will keep you comfortable and coming back for more. Don't forget some glasses to protect your eyes and make you faster

Hydration

Whether it's a waterbottle and cage, or a hydration pack for bigger days on the trail, you're going to get thirsty out there

Pedals

Most nicer bikes don't include pedals, as most riders have a specific kind that they like. Flat pedals work with regular shoes, and clipless are more secure for the intermediate rider

Shoes

To go with your pedals, flat cycling shoes are extra grippy to help your feet stay on, while clipless pedals make sure you have complete control

Tools

A multi tool, tire levers, an inflation device like a pump or a CO2 inflator, and a tube are a must when you're far from home
