It's fair to say that we've been working on this short for the past 15 years. That's how long it's been since the original free aero race bibshort was first introduced, initially as our top-of-the-line race short. Since then it has won three Tours de France, three Gri d'Italia, one Vuelta, and San Remo, but it also became the best-selling product in the history of Castelli because, simply put, this is the short that does everything well. The concept is quite simple: start with the best pad we know how to make, surround it with a supportive short with good muscle compression, and then remove everything else that's not absolutely necessary. You feel free thanks to the reduced number of panels and the reduced number of seams. In fact, the short portion has just 5 panels compared to 10 in the previous generation. You feel free because of further refinements to the Progetto X2 air seamless seat pad. The Premio Bibshort has been engineered to provide the ultimate in long-distance comfort and to be your favorite bibshort ever. That's a big claim, but there's a lot of development in this short to back it up. So let's take a tour of the short. The first thing you might notice is what's missing: the seams and multiple panels. We engineered a new fabric that changes depending on the needs over various parts of the body. The lower leg has a raw-cut leg ending and rubberized yarns to guarantee a flat grip to keep the leg in place. The fabric becomes lighter in the thigh, while the four-way stretch provides just the right amount of muscle support. In the pelvis area, the compression and support increase to keep the seat pad and everything else in place, and the fabric gets thicker to avoid any embarrassing transparency issues. With this magical fabric we don't need to stitch separate panels together, which ensures more comfort and a better fit, as well as a sleek, sophisticated look. The premium fabrics extend into the bib straps. The perforated back keeps you cool and the edge is bonded so you don't feel the thickness of a stitched edge. We've added panels on the sides and the sleeves in a very high-stretch yet tightly knit fabric that allows us to give the jacket a modern, close-to-body fit for aero gains on any terrain, and it actually keeps more heat in than a jacket that's flapping about. We've kept it very compact so that it can pack away into minimal space in a jersey pocket. We gave the short two top-opening pockets like jeans so that whatever you put in there won't fall out. We made the cut fairly close to the body so you look good off the bike but the short doesn't balloon out when you're on the bike. It all just kinda disappears. The short doesn't have its own seat pad, so wear this over your favorite Castelli short. The Superleggera is a good choice for warmer weather, or the Unlimited if you want the extra pockets.

Just like the name says, we wanted to create the ideal simple emergency rain jacket. We made it completely waterproof and compact, and, as you'd expect from Castelli, we also gave it an amazing on-bike fit, yet it's still roomy enough to fit over a Gabba. It has all the trappings of a performance rain jacket, with the waterproof zipper, long tail, long sleeves, and wrist closures that can go over gloves, yet we knew you wouldn't want to break the bank with it, so the only real compromise compared to our top-of-the-line offerings is in breathability. We kept the styling toned down and added a bright colorway in Fiery Red so that you can easily use this as a commute jacket and still look great when you get to the office.
